On Monday the 13^th of June 2011, via the Autodesk Exchange the App Store has been officially launched. Following the highly successful Apple Store model the App Store is directly available through AutoCAD 2012 (and verticals) and provides users with an interface to locate and quickly install the most useful plug-ins (both free and commercial applications) that they find necessary in building their projects.

The App Store guarantees that only the highest quality plug-ins are available to the users, software that complies to the most strict standards and has been thoroughly tested for months by Autodesk itself.

With Plex.Earth 2.4, one more unique capability has been introduced. And as usual, Plexscape's ambition is to convert a feature into benefit.

Import KML into AutoCAD. This straightforward feature is available in all editions and it comes to provide you with more flexibility in your projects. KML is a well-known and very popular format for data exchange. So, you will be able to incorporate more sources with valuable information in your design. Even more, combined with the “Publish Objects” (to send objects from AutoCAD to Google Earth), the capabilities to share data with your partners and to present your creativity, has no limits anymore.

Plex.Earth will not import just a bunch of points and lines. Equipped with the "smart engine", which is based on the expert system we have developed, Plex.Earth will identify the role of each one element contained into the KML. Thus, while retaining properties such as the color and the transparency, it can distinguish whether an element represents a line, polyline (2D or 3D), hatch, 3d Face or simple points and text objects.

Currently is characterized as "beta". The reason is that we are simply looking for your feedback and we invite you to tell us if your expectations have been fulfilled.

The command can be executed either through the command line (PXIMPORTKML), through the Plex.Earth Tools ribbon tab ("Publish Objects" section) or through the Plex.Earth toolbar (see below):

Με τη διαδικασία που περιγράφεται στη συνέχεια είναι δυνατή η ενσωμάτωση, μέσα στο Google Earth, των ορθοφωτογραφιών της ΚΤΗΜΑΤΟΛΟΓΙΟ Α.Ε. οι οποίες διατίθενται δωρεάν από τις 25 Μαϊου 2010.

Το Google Earth παρέχει τη δυνατότητα προβολής δεδομένων από WMS (Web Mapping Services) το οποίο είναι ένα ανοικτό πρότυπο που έχει οριστεί από το OGC (Open GIS Consortium) προκειμένου να παρέχεται μια κοινή τυποποιημένη διεπαφή για πρόσβαση σε θεματικές ενότητες χαρτών που παρέχονται από κάποιον χωρικό εξυπηρετητή.

Μπορείτε να ακολουθήσετε την παρακάτω διαδικασία, περισσότερο για εκμάθηση της διαδικασίας ενσωμάτωσης υπηρεσιών WMS στο Google Earth. Για όσους θέλουν απλά να κάνουν τη δουλειά τους έχουμε δημιουργήσει ένα αρχείο Kmz το οποίο μπορείτε να κατεβάσετε από εδώ:

Στο παραπάνω αρχείο Kmz μπορείτε να επιλέξετε την ανάλυση που θέλετε με ανάλογη όμως επίπτωση στην ταχύτητα φόρτωσης.

Τα βήματα που πρέπει να ακολουθήσετε είναι τα εξής:

1. Από το μενού του Google Earth επιλέξτε Add -> Image Overlay (Προσθήκη -> Εικόνα Επικάλυψης)

2. Στο παράθυρο που εμφανίζεται, στην καρτέλα Refresh (Ανανέωση) ορίστε τις παραμέτρους View-Based Refresh (Ανανέωση βάσει προβολής), ως εξής:

• When = "After Camera Stops" (Πότε = "Μετά τη διακοπή της κάμερας") και 0 hrs-0 mins-0 secs για να γίνεται ανανέωση της εικόνας αμέσως μετά την αλλαγή της θέσης της κάμερας.
• Ορίστε View Bound Scale = 1 (Προβολή οριακής κλίμακας) ώστε η εικόνα να καλύπτει ολόκληρο το εύρος της κάμερας.

Πατήστε το πλήκτρο WMS Parameters (Παράμετροι WMS).

3. Στο παράθυρο που εμφανίζεται πατήστε το πλήκτρο Add (Προσθήκη) και εισάγετε την παρακάτω διεύθυνση της υπηρεσίας WMS της ΚΤΗΜΑΤΟΛΟΓΙΟ Α.Ε:

4. Στη λίστα των διαθέσιμων επιπέδων, επιλέξτε το "THE BASEMAP OF KTIMATOLOGIO", πατήστε το πλήκτρο Add (Προσθήκη) και τέλος OK.

5. Ονομάστε την Image Overlay (εικόνα επικάλυψης) "ΚΤΗΜΑΤΟΛΟΓΙΟ" για αναγνώρισή της στη λίστα αντικειμένων του Google Earth και πατήστε OK για να ολοκληρώσετε τη διαδικασία.

Πλέον μπορείτε να έχετε τις εικόνες του Κτηματολογίου μέσα στο Google Earth. Επιστρέφετε στις εικόνες του Google Earth απλά απενεργοποιώντας το στοιχείο "ΚΤΗΜΑΤΟΛΟΓΙΟ" που έχετε δημιουργήσει.

Επισημαίνεται πως το Plex.Earth Tools for AutoCAD θα χρησιμοποιεί τις εικόνες του Κτηματολογίου εφόσον η προβολή ενεργοποιημένη!

The product is available under two license types: Pro Edition and Premium Edition.

Both editions of the software offer the new imagery capabilities and the improved interoperability with objects export and data. Premium Edition further provides the functionality for terrain importing and surface editing.

We have to admit it was quite tough to make it communicate with Google Earth in 64-bit systems.

The reason was that Google Earth installer doesn't implement properly the necessary registry entries in 64-bit Windows (Vista & 7). In order to surpass the problem, we created a patch to correct the appropriated registry entries.

You will have the option to apply the patch during installation since it's a prerequisite to be able to enjoy Plex.Earth Tools 2.0 functionality in your favorite environment. You can always examine the patch: simply deny it during installation and then, when you will be prompted at run-time, open it with Notepad or another text editor.

This release is here to fix two issues, tracked during the first week of the public beta phase:

• In text parsing feature in surface creation, wrong coordinates could be assigned in the point due to the "Text Alignment" property of the text objects.
• When undoing vertices in Polyline digitization from Google Earth, in specific conditions (the mouse pointer was over the last vertex), it could raise an error.
