Can I use satellite images other than Google Earth?
Yes. Any geo-located images can be stitched together correctly, providing you know the coordinate system used.
Is this only for America?
No, you can use geo-located images from anywhere on Earth!
I have Windows 64-bit. Will it run OK?
Yes, 64-bit versions of Windows are supported. Please ensure you download the correct version from here.
Note that the installer of Google Earth does not create the proper registry entries in 64-bit computers, thus preventing communication with other programs. The current version of Plex.Earth solves this issue.
Do you sell the images or licensing to me?
Plexscape provides you with a special image-creation software tool only. We cannot grant, sell or extend rights for the content of the image providers you may use, nor do we claim any rights over the images you produce.
How many computers can I use?
Each license key is activated for one computer and only one named user is supported. For extra licensing please don't hesitate to contact us.
What if I format my computer?
Each license is locked on the computer it was first activated on. If you perform a hard-drive format on your computer then you need to contact us and we will release your license key to be activated again. There is no charge for this.
Can I move my license to another computer?
Sure – just contact us and we will release your license key for re-activation.
Can I get a subscription for only 1 month?
Plex.Earth is available only on an annual basis. This ensures we have the resources to give you fast, helpful support and for keeping up with image provider updates.
Can I upgrade my Standard or Pro license to Premium?
Yes, you can upgrade at any time. Whenever you choose to upgrade from the Standard or Pro Edition to the Premium, a new subscription will be initiated but you will be able to save your remaining balance. Calculate your remaining funds (credit) by dividing the initial price of your subscription by 12 (months) and then multiplying by the months remaining until expiration.
Please contact the Sales Dept. for details and instructions on how to proceed with your upgrade.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept credit cards, Paypal or Wire Transfer. Our e-commerce is integrated with FastSpring, one of the leading services in the world for software sales online. If you wish to pay by Paypal or by Wire Transfer, contact our Sales Dept. and we’ll talk you through the process.
Can I use Paypal or Wire Transfer?
Yes, see the reply to the question above.
Are there any student prices or charity discounts?
Unfortunately no, we do not offer any standard discounting. We are however sensitive to special needs or circumstances. For any extraordinary licensing case please don't hesitate to contact us.
Why do I have to register and give you my e-mail address?
Registration is required because we are providing you with a service (Software as a Service, or “SaaS”). That means we need to be able to contact you and to distinguish you as a valid client – preventing anyone else from claiming your service.
Please note you do not have to register to download or re-download the Plex.Earth software.
Unless you explicitly agree (such as providing a testimonial) your details are never shared outside of Plexscape.
For more information refer to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
I completed my registration – where’s my confirmation e-mail?
If you don't receive the confirmation e-mail in your e-mail address within 20 minutes, you should check your spam/junk folder, because filters might classify it as such.
If you still can't find it or you are afraid that you have entered invalid e-mail, contact us and our Customers' Support will resolve the issue as soon as possible.
I registered with a wrong e-mail address. Help!
In this case just contact us and we will resolve the issue for you.
The coordinate system I use is not supported. What can you do for me?
Even though our database already contains thousands of co-ordinate systems, from all the countries around the world, some are still missing.
If the co-ordinates system you use is one of those, you only have to tell us!
We’ll do all the research, solve all the math and create the necessary formulas, in order to provide you with the co-ordinates system you need. No extra charge!
We’re proud to and enjoy creating one of the most comprehensive geo-spatial databases available.
I’m finding my image comes from somewhere completely different from my project area. What’s wrong?
This invariably is invariably caused by one of two things. Correcting them will provide perfect results:
- Ensure that you are using the appropriate co-ordinates system. First, select your country or region in the "Zone" list and then the co-ordinates system in the "Grids". Also, it's common that more than one co-ordinate systems share the same name, so you have to check that you selected the correct Datum - in the parenthesis following the grid's name (e.g. WGS84, WGS72 etc.).
- Check that the co-ordinates units specified in Plex.Earth are the same as with those in your drawing. For example, you might use "meters" in Plex.Earth, but your drawing is in feet. You can change it through Plex.Earth Settings -> General tab -> Units.
My mosaic images are not aligned with each other correctly?
This is probably because you are using Google Earth 5.2 or newer.
You may already know that geo-reference can only be achieved properly if the “terrain” feature is disabled. The problem is that after Google Earth 5.2, the way it handles terrain has changed. Specifically, you can't enable or disable the terrain from the "Layers" pane on the left side of Google Earth like you used to. You have to go inside Tools -> Options -> 3D View -> "Show Terrain" and switch it off.
In order to avoid this problem you should have Plex.Earth 2.2.1025 and newer. If you haven't, download the latest release from here.
Why in some cases the imported imagery is some meters away compared with my survey data?
Even though in most the cases, the images fit to the data retrieved by topographic surveys, there are some cases where the imagery is inaccurate. We should always have in mind that Google Earth is built for entertainment, rather than a tool created to be used for field-work requiring precision.
We recommend therefore that before committing to plans relying on satellite images that such data be confirmed with field data and test measurements. Google Earth is not a substitute for surveying!
Your website is really well written and clear. Could you do the writing for my site?
Sorry, no! Our website content was written by our sales copywriter, Alan Carr.
